AI Security Architect

Role purpose

Design and govern security architecture for AI/ML systems to protect data, models, pipelines, and AI-enabled products across their lifecycle. Ensure solutions meet organizational risk standards, regulatory requirements, and secure-by-design principles.

Core responsibilities

Define end-to-end security architecture for AI/ML platforms, applications, and MLOps pipelines.
Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments for AI use cases (e.g., data poisoning, model theft, prompt injection, supply-chain risks).
Establish security controls for data governance, access management, encryption, key management, and secrets handling.
Set standards for secure model development, evaluation, deployment, monitoring, and incident response.
Partner with engineering, data science, and compliance teams to embed security requirements into delivery processes.
Review architectures, design documents, and vendor solutions; provide actionable remediation guidance.
Define logging, auditability, and monitoring requirements for AI services and model behavior.

Required skills

Security architecture experience across cloud, application, and identity domains.
Knowledge of AI/ML systems, MLOps, data pipelines, and model lifecycle management.
Expertise in threat modeling, security control design, and risk management.
Familiarity with privacy, compliance, and governance requirements relevant to AI.
Strong communication and stakeholder management; ability to translate risk into engineering requirements.

Lead secure AI innovation at NN Group. As an AI Security Architect, you set the standards to protect customers, data, and society in today’s rapidly evolving AI landscape. Based in The Hague, you build the security backbone that empowers responsible and scalable AI. In this role, you drive trusted progress and champion transformation from the very start.

What you are going to do

AI is reshaping financial services. You ensure this change remains secure, compliant and resilient. As our AI Security Architect, you design and implement NN’s AI security architecture, enabling scalable and secure agentic AI solutions across public cloud platforms. You bridge strategy with execution. In this capacity, you support DevOps teams, counsel senior leadership and instil security-by-design throughout the AI lifecycle, protecting customers and building trust in AI-powered services.

Key responsibilities:

Define and maintain NN’s AI Security Architecture, ensuring alignment with both security and enterprise strategy
Set AI security principles, standards and guidelines in line with best practices and requirements
Design security capabilities for AI solutions, including identity, data, API and platform security across Azure and AWS environments
Advise IT and business leadership on AI-related security risks, controls and long-term architectural decisions
Guide Agile DevOps teams in securing AI and ML systems, including data pipelines, model training, inference and protection against adversarial threats

Who you are

You combine strategic vision with practical expertise, translating complex security challenges into clear, persuasive guidance. Defining, documenting and communicating robust security architectures comes naturally to you. You create multi-year AI security roadmaps aligned with business objectives. Guided by integrity, you build trust and actively champion secure innovation. You also bring:

A Master’s degree in Computer Science with a focus on AI or Cybersecurity and at least 5 years of experience in IT architecture
Proven experience with security architecture methodologies such as SABSA, and preferably certifications such as CISSP-ISSAP or CCSP
An understanding of regulatory, risk and compliance requirements related to data and AI, ideally within financial services
Hands-on experience securing cloud-native and data-driven platforms and protecting AI systems across the lifecycle
The ability to communicate fluently in Dutch and English and confidently advise senior stakeholders while guiding engineers in Agile environments

Who you will work with

You will join the Group CISO Security Architecture team and report to the Enterprise Security Architect. The team consists of enterprise and domain security architects who work closely with central IT and local IT organisations across NN business units and countries.
