Technology & AI Trainee

Role Purpose

Support technology and artificial intelligence initiatives by learning core tools, contributing to data-driven projects, and assisting with the development, testing, and deployment of AI-enabled solutions.

Core Responsibilities

Assist with data collection, cleaning, labeling, and basic analysis to support AI/ML use cases.
Contribute to prototyping and testing AI features, automation scripts, and analytics dashboards.
Document workflows, experiments, results, and technical requirements for internal stakeholders.
Support model evaluation by tracking metrics, identifying issues, and suggesting improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical tasks.
Follow security, privacy, and responsible AI guidelines when handling data and models.

Required Skills

Technical fundamentals: basic programming (e.g., Python), data structures, and problem-solving.
Data & AI exposure: familiarity with machine learning concepts, model lifecycle, and evaluation basics.
Tools: spreadsheets/SQL, version control (e.g., Git), and common collaboration tools.
Communication: clear documentation and ability to explain findings to non-technical audiences.
Mindset: curiosity, attention to detail, and willingness to learn quickly.

What you are going to do

Over the course of this two-year traineeship, you’ll complete three challenging assignments within various IT teams at NN. Topics may include security, software development, AI, data engineering, cloud, SaaS solutions, and change management. Your first assignment will be carefully selected for you, while you’ll take the lead in shaping the second and third assignments based on your learning goals and ambitions.

You’ll work in IT departments across different business units, such as the bank or our life and non-life insurance entities. You may also join teams at our headquarters or international IT hubs in cities like Madrid or Prague. This way, you’ll gain a deep understanding of our complex IT landscape and contribute to innovation across NN.

Together with trainees from other tracks, you’ll participate in the Future Leaders Programme, which focuses on personal leadership. You’ll also receive technical training from senior leaders and experts on topics such as CI/CD, APIs, NN architecture, security, cloud, and data & AI. Depending on your assignment, you’ll become a member of one of our guilds, such as the Engineering Guild or the Data Science Guild. These communities span across business units and foster knowledge sharing and innovation. The network and expertise you build during your traineeship will prepare you for a future tech leadership role at NN.

Who you are

You’re passionate about using technology to create smart solutions and eager to grow into a future leader. You inspire others with your ideas and take initiative to bring them to life. You have a sharp eye for innovation and enjoy thinking outside the box.

You also have:

A master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Computer Science, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, Business Informatics, Econometrics, Mathematics, or Physics), and you expect to graduate before 1 September 2026
Affinity with programming languages such as Python or JavaScript. Knowledge of AWS or Azure is a plus
Maximum two years of work experience after graduation
A DevOps mindset and strong learning agility
A good command of spoken and written English, as you’ll be working in an international environment

Who you will work with

You’ll work in various IT teams alongside driven experts and become part of one of our guilds, such as the Engineering or Data Science Guild. You’ll also form a close-knit group with 17 other trainees across three tracks. Together, you’ll follow an intensive development programme, share experiences, and participate in joint activities.
